2009 WSOP – World Series of Poker November Nine

[ Posted July 16th, 2009 ] by contract

As for Aussies in the Main Event goes, Charlie Elias was our best finish in 53rd place, which made the Sydney-sider a healthy $138,568 USD, which is a tick over $175,000 in Australian dollars.

But the show must go on, and so it has. We are now down to our November Nine! Each player has played out of their skin to get to this point, with some crazy survival hands as well as some huge bad beats on their journey to pokers summit.

Here’s the final November Nine with counts and seat positions:Play Poker

Seat 1: Darvin Moon – 58,930,000
Seat 2: James Akenhead – 6,800,000
Seat 3: Phil Ivey – 9,765,000
Seat 4: Kevin Schaffel – 12,390,000
Seat 5: Steven Begleiter – 29,885,000
Seat 6: Eric Buchman - 34,800,000
Seat 7: Joe Cada – 13,215,000
Seat 8: Antoine Saout – 9,500,000
Seat 9: Jeff Shulman – 19,580,000

Notice the name in seat 3, Phil IveyFull Tilt Poker Pro and the player with the most bracelets at the table. He’s not the chip leader, he’s actually close to 50 million behind the chip leader (Darvin Moon with 58.9 million) but he must be feared with his form this WSOP year (he already has won 2 bracelets).

Phil Ivey: 2009 WSOP November Nine

Getting to the final November Nine didn’t take much time at all, with all proceedings wrapping up just before 11pm. Even the expected next cash level bubbles didn’t even take much time.

It now becomes 4 months of coaching, learning, preparing for these final 9 as they all strive to be the next World Poker Champion. Each player regardless of what happens in November will at least say they have won a million bucks in a poker tournament, with each player set to make a minimum of $1.26 million USD. But all will no doubt be chasing the $8.5 million first prize and the winners gold bracelet.

Here’s how the payouts look:

1st $8,546,435
2nd $5,182,601
3rd $3,479,485
4th $2,502,787
5th $1,953,395
6th $1,587,133
7th $1,404,002
8th $1,300,228
9th $1,263,602
