Carl ‘The Dean’ Sampson
The Dean joins the team at allaussiepoker.com, bringing with him a vast array of knowledge and experience. The Dean is the nickname for one of Europe’s foremost poker theorists and writers. His name is Carl Sampson and Carl has been very successful in the online cash poker games for the past five years and plays poker professionally online now. It all started back in 1989 for Carl when he became employed as a croupier inside a casino in his home town.
It was here that Carl steadily built up his incredible knowledge of the gaming industry and he later used this knowledge to devastating effect when he successfully set up and trained numerous teams of professional Blackjack players that took the gaming industry all across the World for very substantial sums of money. Carl spent nine relatively unhappy years inside the casino’s but it was a chance meeting in the summer of 1998 that gave “The Dean” the opportunity to play professional blackjack, his first role in the demanding arena of professional gambling. A wealthy backer gave Carl the opportunity to play blackjack on a big scale and to really use his expertise and secrets, and the rest as they say is history. “The Dean” first arrived at his nickname in a local poker game, every time that someone asked him what the odds were for hitting a certain hand or what to do in a certain situation, Carl was always there with the answer. People started to call him the “Dean of Poker” and because his middle name is James, they then called him “James Dean” after the famous Hollywood actor of that name which later became shortened to just, “The Dean”. Carl’s schedule is a very hefty one these days and involves playing poker online, coaching and writing for numerous poker magazines and websites. “The Dean” writes for the official magazine of the televised WORLD POKER TOUR, POKER PRO EUROPE and ONLINE POKER PRO. Carl’s love of writing led him to write two highly successful books, one on poker and the other on Blackjack. He has also written for Bluff Europe. “Secrets of Professional Limit Hold’em: Learn how the pro’s think” was Carl’s first book and is an advanced poker book designed to help players to reach professional level in poker. Carl does this by concentrating on one of his specialties, LIMIT TEXAS HOLD’EM. “The Dean’s” Second book followed shortly after, “Princes of Darkness: The world of high stakes blackjack” tells the story of the blackjack team that Carl set up and ran between 1998 and 2002. “The Dean” first started coaching and imparting what he knew about blackjack in 1998 and this coaching and consulting work spilled over into poker in 2004. “The Dean” has also advised on cheating and advantage play with an international film company in 2003 and has also consulted with casinos on cheating and advantage play and is regarded by some as being one of the foremost experts of cheating and advantage play in Europe, if not the World. “The Dean” has recently written another book on poker called “Winning Cash Game Poker” as well as a book on cheating in Roulette called “Killer Roulette”. He can also be seen in the highly prestigious 2+2 internet magazine hosted by David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth where he currently writes theory on high-stakes limit hold’em. Carl also writes poker theory for Blonde Poker, Poker News website and magazine, Part Time Poker and The Hendon Mob website. “The Dean’s” reputation has grown so significantly within the industry that he has had several offers to join highly selective coaching teams including the world famous Stox Poker team which boasts some of the best online players and theorists in the world.
