Australian’s in the 2009 WSOP Main Event – Day 7 update

[ Posted July 14th, 2009 ] by contract

Charlie EliasWe’re getting real close to finding the 2009 November Nine. There is only 64 players left in the big one and only one Aussie, Charlie Elias vying for pokers top prize.

Charlie, who qualified through APL (Australia’s largest pub poker network) has been in hot form, even taking the lead on a couple of occasions before finishing Day 7 just outside the top 10. He has also picked up a deal with online poker giant Full Tilt Poker. Charlie will take a minimum of just over $90k USD for his efforts, with the possibility of making up to $8,546,435 for winning the bracelet.

With the triple starting stack this year, it was likely some big name pro’s were going to run deep, and there isn’t many more big names in poker than that of Phil Ivey (Full Tilt Poker Pro) who sits with a healthy stack and in 3rd place.
