[ Posted July 6th, 2009 ] by admin

2009 World Series of Poker

The 2009 World Series of Poker has so far been a good one for Australian poker players. Lisandro already has 3 bracelets sealed up this year and countless others have made a some good cashes.

So far in the Main Event. Shane Warne was up against 1697 other players on Day 1A. He did well ending up as one of the Top 50 chipleaders with 87625 from his starting stack of 30k.

Shane will be looking to add to his impressive non-cash finish of Day 4 dinner time last year. He’s placed well and in good shape at the moment so it’s only time that will tell. We all know his cricket skills with a ball and we’ve all heard his antics with texting on his phone, now it may be time for his poker skills to be showcased.

Jamie Pickering was also in action on Day 1A, he sits well placed with 53,650. Tony G also sits with 42,325, just slightly higher than off and online young gun Jay Kinkade who has 41,625, Mel Judah who finish on 31,325 and Mark Vos who busted after Day 1A.

Day 1B saw Grant Levy take to the felt, he finished well on 52,225. ChipMeUp.com creator Rayan Nathan is slightly under the average with 21,575. Billy ‘The Croc’ Argyros has some work to do on Day 2 as he starts with a less than par stack of 8,575.

Day 1C saw a host of others looking to take pokers biggest crown. This time it’s Jeff Lisandro who’s leading the way on 125,000 chips, 30,000 in front of his nearest competitor. Could he possibly back up and win the Main Event?

Others in action on Day 1C are David Saab who is down to about half his original stack and with a bit of work to do if he is go past his efforts of last year. Former Main Event and World Champion Joe Hachem is also in action today with a healthy stack of 68,000 in chips.
