Below you will find some of the greatest men to have ever played the game – True poker champions.

 Texas Dolly Doyle Brunson
“Texas Dolly” has been playing poker for over 40 years. The owner of 10 WSOP bracelets and 1 of only 4 players to have won consecutive WSOP main events. Brunson is perhaps the most famous and most respected poker player in history. He is the author of Super/System, known as “the Bible of Poker”. The hand 10-2 is known “Doyle Brunson” as it is the hand he won both of his WSOP main events with, in 1976 and 1977. As of 2010 his tournament winnings exceed $5.8 million. He also has 7 poker books to his name. Brunson was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1988.

 Johnny Moss Johnny Moss
Johnny Moss is a poker legend. He won the WSOP main event 3 times (1970, 1971 & 1974), 2 of them in consecutive years. Moss played in every WSOP from 1970 to 1995 and won a total of 8 bracelets. The “Grand Old Man” of poker once played against Nick the Greek in an epic battle set up by Benny Binnion. After 5 months Nick the Greek was down anywhere between 2 and 4 million dollars and uttered the famous poker quote “Mr. Moss, I have to let you go”. The hand A-10 is known as “Johnny Moss”. Moss was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1979. He died in December of 1995.

 Johnny Chan Johnny Chan
Born in China and known as the “Oriental Express”, Chan has won 10 WSOP bracelets and is tied with Doyle Brunson for most WSOP wins. He won the 1987 and 1988 WSOP main events, and then placed 2nd to Phil Hellmuth in 1989. As of 2010 Chan has won over $8.3 million in tournaments. Johnny has published 2 books dealing with poker. He is one of the all time greats and in 2002 was inducted to the Poker Hall of Fame. You may recognize him from the movie “Rounders” in which he plays himself.

 Phil Hellmuth Phil Helmuth
In 1989 Hellmuth became the youngest ever World Champion of Poker by winning the WSOP main event at the age of 24 (Joe Cada now owns this title winning at the age of 21). He defeated Johnny Chan who was looking at 3 consecutive WSOP main event wins. Known as the “poker brat” for his frequent outbursts and over the top ego, Hellmuth is an excellent yet somewhat temperamental player. His ability to read his opponents is amazing. As of 2010 Hellmuth has won in excess of $6.1 million at the WSOP and has amassed some $10.9 million in tournament winnings. He currently owns 11 WSOP bracelets more than anyone else. He also leads the list in WSOP cashes with 75 cashes.

 Erik Seidel Erik Seidel
Seidel was originally a champion backgammon player before moving onto poker. Just recently he added another bracelet to his collection at the 2007 WSOP in the $5000 2-7 draw lowball event, making him owner of 8 WSOP bracelets in total. He is also a former member of the infamous “Mayfair Club”. He placed 2nd in his first major tournament, the 1988 WSOP main event, losing to Johnny Chan. Seidel finished runner up in the 2008 Aussie Millions Main Event. As of 2010 his tournament winnings exceed $10.1 million.

 Phil Ivey Phil Ivey
Known as “The Tiger Woods of Poker”, Ivey has won 5 WSOP bracelets all before he was 30. Impressive for a predominately cash based player. He has had success in WPT events despite not being able to win one, yet. He also won the Monte Carlo Millions tournament in 2005, taking home the first prize of $1 million backing up the next day to take down the  Fulltiltpoker.com  Invitational worth $600k. As of 2010 Ivey has won in excess of $12.8 million in tournament play. He has more money in tournament play than any other player in history.

 Gus Hansen Gus Hansen
Gustav Hansen is known as “the Great Dane” in reference to his country of birth. Hansen is known for his extremely aggressive and loose style of play. He is adept at reading his opponents and avoiding traps. Hansen has had much of his success on the WPT with 4 titles and EPT. A great player who as of 2010 has won in excess of $7.5 million in tournament play. Let’s not forget to mention his Aussie Millions win in January 2007.

 Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu
Known as “Kid Poker”, Negreanu has won 4 WSOP bracelets and 2 WPT. This prodigy started his success in 1997 winning 2 events at the World Poker Finals. His WSOP Pot-Limit Hold’em event win in 1998 made him the youngest ever WSOP winner, a record he held until 2004. He has had much success on the WPT, where he leads the all-time money list. As of 2010 he his tournament winnings exceed $12.5 million, 2nd to Phil Ivey. He is one of the most popular players in the world.

 Howard Howard Lederer
The “Professor of Poker” has 2 WSOP bracelets in his possession and a host of finishes in the money. The brother and mentor of Annie Duke. Previously a member of the exclusive “Mayfair Club” he practiced his craft with some of the best. Lederer has also won 2 WPT titles and as of 2010 his tournament wins exceed $5.5 million. In 2003 he won the “WPT player of the year” award. A great player with an excellent record. He is also one of the found members of the online poker site Full Tilt Poker.

 Barry Greenstein Barry Greenstein
Greenstein has won 3 WSOP bracelets and 2 WPT titles. He is known as “the Robin Hood of Poker” as he gives most of his poker winnings to charity. As of 2010, his tournament winnings stood at over $7.0 million. He has finished in the money more than 35 times at the WSOP. He is also the author of the book “Ace of the River” a book which he often signs and gives to the player who knocks him out of any major tournament. He is also the father of poker player and personality Joe Sebok.
