- A Sunday $560 buy-in tournament - December 17th, $3500 buy-in Main Event The top 6 from Sunday, top 2 from Monday and top 3 from Wednesday progress through to the Main Event where first place is $180,000. The Sunday tournament and Main Event have a maximum of 154 entrants while the Monday and Wednesday have a maximum of 164. The Main Event will be made up of 79 players from the satellites with the extra 75 up for purchase. To play in these tournaments you need to register at least 30mins prior to the tournament start. You may also pay for the tournament over the phone via credit card payment. The structure in the smaller $150 event, has a very home-game or internet style structure. With 1500 starting chips and 20mins blinds starting at 25/50, its a race to find decent position early to set up a good a finish. The others have slightly more generous blind structure as well as starting stack. I personally would like to see longer blind levels, but at the same time its a step in the right direction for Star City. I expect the Main Event will host a better structure. Look out for a few big names to show up to the Main Event, as this is one of the biggest tournaments in the Southern Hemisphere leading into the Aussie Millions.
