Hellmuth Makes History 10th Bracelet Win For A Poker Great Phil Hellmuth has just made poker history. Not long ago Phil won his 10th World Series of Poker title. This makes him one of the most sucessful WSOP players ever. The event was the $1000 No-Limit Hold 'Em with rebuys (Event number 34). Starting with 734 players, at the end there was just one. The players at the final table included some big names. Australia's own Tony G, Rafael Perry, John Spadavecchia, Elio Cabrera, Juha Helppi, Daryn Firicano, Terris Preston, David Plastik and of course Phil Hellmuth. Aussie Tony G was the first to fall, finishing in 9th position. Hellmuth took out the next 3 players. Ralph Perry was consumed by Hellmuths trip Jacks, shortly after David Plastik was knocked out when Phil recieved the best possible starting hand in poker - pocket Aces. Next it was Elio Cabrera's turn, Hellmuth again did the damage but this time it was via a reported bad beat. You know what they say - "that's poker". Next to go was Terris Preston who finished in 5th position. After this casualty the action dried up and it would be a while before our next eliminated player. John Spadavecchia eventually got all his chips in the middle and it was Hellmuth who called and busted him. Third position went to Daryn Firicano after some good play that unsettled the 2 other pro's at the table. Juha was the one to take him down. Finally we had our heads up match, Helppi had the chip lead going into the battle, reported to be close to a 2 to 1 advantage. Eventually Phil found the hand to double up on and did so to get back into the contest (hand details unknown). Hellmuth practically won the bracelet when he got all his chips in the middle with K-K. Juha was now crippled and Phil finished it all with the winning hand of A-J. Hellmuth had finally done it. The man who is already a living legend has his 10th World Series of Poker crown, and takes home over $600,000 for his efforts. Amazing! -SS
